IJ Start Canon Pixma G3010
IJ Start Canon Pixma G3010 – The Canon PIXMA G3010 is not the most concise you will find. However, it’s definitely one of the better-looking ones out there. The Printer comes in a nice matte-black finish that just looks classy, and just as a whole, it feels like a better unit is built than most other printers in its price range.
The All button is set on the right side of the printer, which is also where you will find the LCD screen. There is not much to say about this button, besides the fact that they get the job done. Personally, I do not find myself using a button that much, because almost everything in this printer can be done using a smartphone (more on that later), but the times when I use the button (especially to turn on or off the printer), the button feels tactile, and definitely well constructed.
In addition, the printer comes with the usual — extendable paper tray, and paper output tray (also extendable). The input tray is great, as it is easily folded over the printer itself, so it can protect the internal PIXMA G3010 from the dust-which makes it easier to store the printer when not in use.
PIXMA G3010 is also well-designed with the way Canon has set the ports on this. There is a major power-input on the left side of the printer (which is also a reversible connector, and I love it. Brownie points to Canon), and there is a USB port on the right side that you can use to establish a wired connection between your printer and your system.
Setting Things up
Setting up PIXMA G3010 may seem like a giant task if you look at the manual that comes with a very confusing image. However, it is actually not very difficult to organize everything. The most important thing when setting up a printer is actually mounting the cartridge on the print head, and filling in the color — Canon provides one bottle of all the colors you need to fill the printer inside the box itself, so you can start printing immediately.
After filling in the ink, and setting the cartridge, you can proceed to connect the printer to your PC and/or smartphone — using a wired or wireless connection if you wish. For cable things, you must use the USB-port on the right side with the included USB cable.
Connection and compatibility
Although PIXMA G3010 offers only one USB port for wired connectivity, it offers a number of ways to connect to a PC or smartphone. There is obviously a cable method that you can use, by connecting the printer to your PC with the included USB cable and installing the driver, either from the Canon site, or from the included CD.
However, you can also use the Canon PRINT app (Android, iOS) to connect your phone to the printer and print photos, documents, scan items directly to the phone memory, copy, and even click an image from your smartphone’s camera and directly print it with PIXMA G3010.
You can also make PIXMA G3010 available through your internet so that all your local devices can access it wirelessly and send a print job to it. That makes it very easy to share printers, especially if you’re in an office space with a bunch of systems, all of which may need access to printers sometimes or else.
You will need a driver for the printer in order to set everything up as I said, but there is one thing that draws me noticed. So Canon says that macOS is not yet supported by the printer, and yes if you try to visit the webpage mentioned in the manual to download the drivers, you will not find the download button.
I’m not sure if Canon will approve it, but hey, I’m using a MacBook Pro and I want to also test this printer with my laptop, so I did what I had to. The good news is that it works well, so if you’re using a Mac, this is something you can do to get the printer working with your laptop as well.
Print, scan, and copy performance
To test the performance of a PIXMA printer, I scored a ton of documents and an absolute image, both colored and black, to see what it is like, and how good the printing quality of this printer is actually. I print a document, a Photoshop file, even an Amazon list for this printer tremendously. I also scanned documents, took pictures from my phone and used the Canon PRINT app to print them, and much more.
By doing all that, the conclusion I have accomplished is that PIXMA G3010 will not disappoint you no matter what you are asking for to print. It can print text files, images (both monochrome and colored), images clicked from your smartphone, and even screenshots you may have taken, all at a decent pace, and good quality that is equivalent to what other printers offer in this price bracket.
Unlike many other printers, the ink does not stain if you touch (or even scrub) The paper too hard as soon as it finishes printing, and there is also no bleeding of color on the paper. I saw it once that there were some wet spots on a piece of paper, but it just happened that one time, and never happened again, even though I scored almost everything I read today, so I was willing to write that off as one mistake that would almost certainly never happen again.
For the picture, I don’t have glossy photo-quality paper on hand to actually test this properly, but even on a regular quality A4 sheet, the printed photo of the Canon PIXMA G3010 looks good. The Printer didn’t seem to mess up the colors at all, and the photos turned out to be great, especially considering that I used regular A4 sheets to print them out. I am pretty sure the print quality of images on the actual photo quality sheet will be much better.
Also worth mentioning is that while the printing speed here is viable, the printer does not take a few seconds to start printing when you send a document or image to print-This occurs regardless of whether you are printing via a USB connection cable, via WiFi, or sending a print job from your smartphone using the Canon PRINT application. It’s not too long to wait, but if you find yourself scoring hundreds of documents every day, waiting may get irritating for you. However, this is something we see happening with a number of ink tanks in this price range.
In addition, PIXMA G3010 can also scan documents and copy documents, and both functions work as you’d expect. You can start the copying function by pressing the ‘ black ‘ or ‘ color ‘ button on the printer, or you can start the copying job through the Canon PRINT application. Scanning also works really well, in fact, if you start a scan from the Canon PRINT app, you can even save scanned copies to your smartphone directly, which is just very cool.
Pros and cons
While I personally come to a positive conclusion about the PIXMA G3010 printer, here are some of the most important pros and cons of printers so you can get a brief overview of everything this printer does well, and it can boost up.

- Good printing quality
- Scanning and copying works very well
- An excellent mobile app available for Android and iOS
Cons:
- Buttons can be confusing
- No official macOS support
Canon PIXMA G3010 is a very amazing all-in-one printer that carries quite a lot of features, including wireless support, for a fairly competitive price RS. 12,623 on Amazon, and personally, I think it is a solid printer to consider if you are looking at RS. 12,000 for the RS price range. 15,000. It offers all the features you need, WiFi printing, easy setup, good print quality, amazing mobile apps, and much more.
That said, there are other printers that you can consider too – there is an HP Ink tank 419 that my colleague reviewed, which offers many of these features greatly, to RS. 13,150, but it doesn’t look nearly as good. There is also an option of Epson that you can check, but at the end of the day, Canon is a fairly well-known name in the printing room and keeping that in mind, I would say PIXMA G3010 is definitely a printer worth considering.
