Canon PIXMA PRO-100 Driver Mac & Windows
Canon PIXMA PRO-100 Driver Mac & Windows – The Pixma printer Pro9000 Mark II Canon has a popular choice for photographers who want to print with Cologne inks (as opposed to pigments) with rich color and good print life. As part of the update bar on their desktop printer line, Canon has replaced this printer with the new Pixma pro-100. Based on the top of the Pixma pro-1 line, this is a 13×19 printer that uses regular Canon Primalife inks. In a change from the original model, this printer uses three of the Beau-BLACK Gray, and gray light, for better black and white printing than was previously possible.
Other new features include the same image optimization technology found in the pro-1 printer, new is a pro studio printing plugin for improved printing directly from Photoshop and a pro digital image, support for printing on CD/DVD print discs, and AirPrint for wireless printing of iOS devices, as well as WiFi.
Definition
The printer is packed with the usual singles way-arranged with a lot of blue tapes to draw, and with good instructions, starting with the QuickStart Setup Guide.
After unpacking and creating a small mountain of tape movies, you adjust the print head, and in this 8 ink-BLACK cartridges, Cyan, Magenta, yellow, photo Cyan, Magenta, Gray, and gray light. Replacement ink is about $17 per cartridge. The size of a cartridge is the same as the pro9000 of the previous Mark II, which is to say that you should have spare parts on hand if you do a lot of printing.
The creation of my network was more problematic than usual. I couldn’t get the installer to identify the printer on WiFi. After several threesomes, it will be masked on the computer via USB to complete the installation. After that, the printer worked on WiFi.
Connection options include USB, Ethernet, and WiFi specified above. For iOS device users, such as iPad or iPhone, the pro-100 also supports AirPrint. I only did a few prints from my iPad, but the process couldn’t be easier—the iPad recognizes every AirPrint printer on the same network and sends the files over.
There are two paper food tracks in the super-100, supporting standard picture documents with up to 20 sheets, and a single sheet load for heavyweight fine art documents.
Included in the software is Canon Studio Pro’s printing, a plug-in for Photoshop and Lightroom, as well as professional digital photography, a Canon image editing software for their SLR line. You also have a quick menu, which provides easy access to the rest of the suite-CD printing software, print easy images, and print special image filters, a small application that applies special effects to your images. All of this is excellent for the casual user, but I imagine that most people who buy a printer in this category will use photoshop or Lightroom for printing.
Dye vs dye
One of the main withdrawals for printing the ink painting was a rich color saturation compared to a pigment ink print. Pigments have gone a long way and that’s not really a problem right now. Yes, the ink prints are on an image paper with the pro-100 that has slightly more pop than the same print and paper in the pro-10 pigment but is thin and really visible when the prints are placed side by side.
On the other side of the coin, Dye’s ink was traditionally smaller than pigments. Canon and EPSON have done an excellent job of improving the life of streamy inks, with Canon claiming over 100 years with the current model (that’s why the Cromalife 100+ name)
Ease of use
Once installed, the printer was very simple to use. Printing in Photoshop through the Print Studio Pro software was the easiest method, as all documents are listed in the correct names, making it easy to get the expected results. Print with the color controlled by Photoshop slightly more difficult because Canon does not always use the same name for their profiles as the paper uses. To print in my usual newspapers, Moab Entrada and Moab Lasal report, I used the profiles available on the Moab website, printing directly in Photoshop.
In all cases, prints in a restaurant and shiny papers looked beautiful. Colors only pop off the paper, with a cleaner color in saturated areas than I was able to get from the pro-1. Compared to pro-1 printing, the color saturation was higher, but the prints themselves looked a little muddy. If you are going to print on a fine art paper with the pro-100, you will want to reduce saturation by about 10%. Especially in images with skin colors, this colorful saturation is evident and very powerful.
For black and white printing, extra gray and light inks make a very noticeable difference throughout the Pro9000 II brand, but they still align with a good pigment printer. Blacks don’t have the intensity, like, for example, Epson 3880 or R3000. It’s nice, but the lack of contrast and deep BLACK. What it did, however, was a smoother tot-off than the Epson equivalent, particularly evident in sky images.
For the US version, Canon now supports printing on impressive CD/DVD media. This has been available to international consumers for some time, but only recently those of us in the United States have been able to do this in anything other than epson. Printing to CD/DVD is straight forward using the included disc (Canon provides a storage slot under the paper output tray.
There are separate paper paths depending on the media you are using. Each has its own cover, and the printer will not print from one path if the other cover is open (something that threw me away more than once when changing papers).
Conclusion
So, which is the best printer-the pro-10 pigment inserted simultaneously, replacing the Pro9500 Mark II, or the pro-100? It’s a very difficult decision. If you do most of your Monday paper printing, especially later and glossy, and you can shoot a lot of landscape/flower type photos, the pro-100 is a clear winner. For the art media, and especially the art of BLACK and white, the choice is not so clear. The pro-10 has a black companion, but without the second Gray. Still, I’d like to go with the pro-10 for an art printer. At $499, the pro-10 is a constant value for money. You’ll get great prints with a rich color, and it will do it faster than any other printer in their category.
